42. Undercut Pixie. Here is a bolder pixie incarnation for fine locks — it keeps the strands looking dense with the closely cut back and sides but adds enough depth and texture to the top.

Hairstyles for women over 70 don’t have to be boring! We women are always searching for ways to change up our hairstyle but usually end up stuck with our go-to or something familiar to us. Many of us love the length because it allows putting the hair up in a ponytail, separating it into braids, twirling our fingers in it, and much more. Sometimes it even becomes a security blanket.

If you’re looking to be gutsy, take some of these photos with you the next time you visit the salon. The payoff of being adventurous will show itself when you walk out with newfound confidence.

1. Swept Back Gray Hairstyle. Feathered and tapered are very popular techniques to wear hair among senior women. If you’re not the one to spend a lot of time getting ready in the morning, it’ll only take a couple of minutes to run your hands and some texturizing spray through your hair!

2. Voluminous Pixie. Some volume on the top and textured pieces framing the face — that’s what you need to boost otherwise limp tresses.

3. Silver Pixie Bob. We all know that too much layering is a big no-no when it comes to haircuts for thinning locks. However, even thin hair can gain depth and movement with strategically placed layers.

4. Haircut with Longer Sideburns. Show off your salt-and-pepper hair with this textured hairstyle, shorter in the back and with longer pieces framing the face.

5. Pixie Bob with Bangs. Bobbed and side-swept keeps it classy!

6. Salt and Pepper Pixie. If you like the length of your hair, but want a little curl to it, this is a great choice. Take some mousse and run it through your cropped locks in the morning to add body!

7. Rose Gold Feathers. Wouldn’t you want to add a fancy color to your short locks after stumbling upon this graduated bob filled with dynamics and upgraded with a shade of precious metal?

8. Layered Haircut with a Fringe. Short and airy bangs play well with glasses since they do not overwhelm the face but create a bit of fullness in the front and, of course, hide wrinkles on the forehead.

9. Wavy Bob. Another textured bob haircut, this time with a longer length, lends a hand to sass and fun. Women looking to keep their wavy or curly hair will love this option.

10. Stacked Cut with Glasses. This cross between a pixie in the back and a bob up front plays up the curls in a fun way. Not all haircuts for older ladies have to be straight and simple!

11. Cropped Pixie with Balayage. Hairstyles for senior women aren’t limited to whites and grays – if you want additional style points for your favoring style, try some waves and balayage lowlights for volume.

12. Rooty Blonde Hairstyle. This choppy bowl cut reincarnation shows how good old hairstyles can be revamped to look edgy while flattering your facial features and hair type and delivering low maintenance.

13. Layered Pixie Bob Cut. The tapered pixie cut doesn’t suggest thick hair only. It works well for fine gray hair as well.

14. Micro Bangs. A baby fringe may feel like a daring addition to short hair unless it is cut super light and coupled with sufficient volume throughout the perimeter.

15. Textured Pixie with Bangs. Look cool yet graceful with this textured pixie undercut that highlights your cheekbones. Opt for some side-swept bangs for a more romantic feel. Plus, they even hide your forehead wrinkles!

16. Neck-Length Bob. While long hairstyles are not as popular as short cuts, midi hair is often considered for the softness and femininity it delivers. And you can take it up a notch with the gray and white color scheme that adds depth and looks perfectly natural.

17. Tapered Pixie Haircut. Want to try pixies but not yet ready for the really short ones? The tapered pixie haircut will help you in transitioning from your usual style to your new hairdo. Plus, it’s still elegant and feminine.

18. Lisa Rinna’s Spiky Bob. Staying true to her signature flicky bob for decades, the stylish actress inspires ladies interested in short choppy styles, whether they are dimensional blondes or caramel-kissed brunettes.

19. Thick Hair Faux-Hawk. Got thick hair and feel bored with medium-length hairstyles? Trim it up, but keep the thickness you love at the top.

20. Layered Bob. The right hairstyle for senior ladies must give a lift to gray hair and infuse it with texture, which is handsomely done here with external layering.

21. Feathered Pixie Bob. When looking for low-maintenance hairstyles, it makes sense to give preference to a shaggy finish, which is less demanding to styling.

22. Textured Cut. Actually, short choppy hairstyles don’t need to feel unkempt but rather vibrant and full of movement, as illustrated by this dynamic crop.

23. Voluminous Choppy Pixie. If you already have natural waves, having a pixie haircut will elevate your bouncy hair. This cut adds texture and body, and complementing it with a shiny color will give your hair more dimension.

24. Medium Blonde Bob with Curtain Bangs. Apart from working as a trendy addition to haircuts for senior ladies, curtain bangs have the innate power to soften the face and highlight its best features.

25. Short Feathered Pixie. To add volume to your hair, try a feathered cut – a type of layering that gives your hair more texture and builds shape. This haircut is low-maintenance and a sure stunner.

26. Choppy Pixie Bob. Cut your hair dry if you want to achieve this choppy bob and embrace the silver sneaking into your locks!

27. Feathered Gray Pixie. Elegant short cuts can have plenty of texture with not a hair out of place thanks to masterfully performed layering and feathering.

28. Spiky Haircut. Those with fine hair will love the piecey-ness of this style, which spikes things up in the back.

29. Highlighted Bangs. Want a little texture in your pixie cut? It won’t take long to get some with this pretty choice!

30. Pixie with Piece-y Bangs. A good short choppy hairstyle can make you look younger and classier, but a daring color like platinum blonde and a trendy addition like piece-y bangs can elevate the style even higher.

31. Fine Hair White Haircut. Let the longer locks frame the face and brush over the ears with another take on the pixie. Shorter pieces at the crown of the head give a boost of body.

32. Angled Butter Blonde Bob. This side-parted bob is a good fit for seniors since it gives some warmth and natural illumination to dull skin and has more weight in the front to create a fuller feel.

33. Hairstyle for Glasses. Searching for a style that works well with glasses? Consider this one, parted in the middle!

34. Rounded Stacked Bob. Just a couple of smart adjustments, such as a wispy fringe and layered back, can turn classic haircuts into fresh and fashionable styles.

35. Bob with Highlights. This is one of our favorite hairstyles in this collection, as it delivers all the required volume, texture, and movement, emphasized by the insertion of tiny yet crisp platinum blonde slices.

36. Textured Bob for Fine Hair. Haircuts for senior ladies shouldn’t be overly layered since that can deprive fine hair of volume: some outside layers and depth added with coloring are just what you need.

37. Neck-Length Hair. Aptly layered short cuts will retain most of the body while promoting lift at the roots by removing excess weight and producing tons of texture with an adequate finish.

38. Inverted Bob. This straight blunt bob is extremely easy to style, all the more so as the mix of natural gray and beige blonde lends lots of dimension and saves the strands from looking bland.

39. Extra Short Curls. A short hairstyle with soft curls makes your best facial features, such as the eyes, stand out.

40. Short Piece-y Blonde Cut. A great pick among the short hairstyles for fine hair is this voluminous layered cut. It creates an illusion of volume and adds texture to your hair. Style some waves for a fluffier and bouncier look!

41. Outgrown Choppy Pixie. If an angled cut is not your cup of tea, you are free to choose softer pixies, such as this long version with only a bit of sass on the crown.

42. Undercut Pixie. Here is a bolder pixie incarnation for fine locks — it keeps the strands looking dense with the closely cut back and sides but adds enough depth and texture to the top.

43. Short Shaggy Haircut. Another easy ‘do, this shaggier take on the pixie only asks for a quick blow-dry in the mornings before you’re ready to face the day.

44. Voluminous Short Hairstyle. Don’t underestimate the power of color when choosing a short hairstyle, as the simplest cut may start shining thanks to a dainty shade like this true gray.

45. Light Pink Pixie. Short fine locks indeed appear more dimensional with highlights and/or lowlights, but you are not limited to the conventional brown roots, blonde tips hair color scheme.

46. Rooty Blonde Bob. It might look like just a no-frills bob, but it brightens the face with the light blonde color, radiates natural shine through the seamlessly blended highlights, and gains a modern twist with the sliced ends.

47. Colorful Pixie Bob. One of the classic short cuts for older women is the pixie bob from the 60s. It’s simple, fresh, and perfect for those with round faces. Complete it with a delicate color and bangs to finish your new look!

48. Textured Auburn Blonde Cut. The lift of the piece-y layers in this pixie cut keeps it full of texture and movement, despite the short length.

49. Jane Fonda’s Shag. Another nod to mature A-listers, this mushroom blonde shag provides a softening frame for both the face and the neck, spiced up with plenty of movement and volume.

50. Short Fluffy Hair. If you are after short cuts with glasses, follow in this lady’s footsteps and keep your hair out of the face to avoid overwhelming it.

Hairstyles you choose should be an expression of your deep self! You, certainly, don’t have to stay with the same one forever. Mix it up every couple of months to find the look you love the best. Have fun and happy hairstyling!

I bet it looks great! I am 70 and wear my hair shoulder-length. I have blond highlights in it. I don’t think age should have anything to do with how long you should wear your hair or what color your hair should be.
