7. Jaggy Mullet with Side Bangs. An edgy mullet for thin hair can give an illusion of thicker locks when body is played up on the top.

8. Long Choppy Messy Downdo. A long bedhead has the magic power to frame your face beautifully while adding a touch of chaos to your appearance. Go for this choppy style if you’re a rebel at heart. We also recommend trying uneven bangs for a stylish glam rock reference.

9. Disheveled Bob with Piece-y Bangs. The cheeky brunette bob is a great coif for those who want to add spice to the traditional short messy crop. The piece-y bangs accentuate your eyes and beautiful cheekbones.

10. Shoulder-Length Choppy Style. Do you prefer shoulder-length locks? Well, you don’t have to go shorter, since behead fits all lengths and textures. Try adding waves and highlights, and you’re ready to go.

11. Armpit-Length Wolf with Heavy Bangs. This brunette style plays with the contrast between straight thick bangs slightly parted in the middle and a bulk of messy bends released by layering and feathering.

12. Curly Shullet with Bottleneck Bangs. Complement your chaotic shullet by adding scrunched curls throughout and face-framing highlights. Rocking this messy crop, you may discover a new, savage side of you!

13. Long Brunette Feathered Mane. If you want to stick to the basics, this delicate downdo is what you’re looking for. With feathered layers that wave at the ends, it’s a coif suitable for any gathering.

14. Shoulder-Length Piece-y Coif. Love your shoulder-grazing locks? Go for a medium-length look and texturize your mane with waves.

15. Soft Wolf Style with Bottleneck Bangs. Mimicking the shape of Joan Jett’s iconic jet-black coif and oozing serious rock & roll vibes, this shoulder-grazing style is kept updated with softer lines and trendy bottleneck bangs.

21. Blonde Shullet with Sculptured Bangs. Hybrid сoifs are all the rage nowadays, and this texturized mullet adorned with handsomely shaped bangs deserves your attention for its seamless blend of bohemian vibes and rockstar glamour.

22. Mid-Length Textured Sliced Style. If you’re done pretending to be a good girl and want to embrace your tomboyish side – try this bedhead. With shorter layers in the back, you’ll spice it up and warn everyone around not to ever mess with you.

23. Edgy Bob with Razored Ends. This layered bob is so delicate and soft that wearing it is a mere pleasure! The coif looks absolutely astonishing with the razored tips, adding volume and movement to your locks.

24. Edgy Mullet Crop. This short variation leans to the mullet that gives it an edgier finish. If you feel confident enough to rock this hairdo, ask your stylist to do choppy layers from front to back.

25. Texture Makeover for Medium Length. This crop is one of the desired coifs that require minimum maintenance. Plus, such a “cuteness overload” can make your hair look more voluminous. The hairstylist removes the weight from the top with a razor. The healthier underneath strands have more movement. Easy!

26. Auburn Wolf with Short Bangs. This picture proves that wolf styles chime well with different types of bangs, as this short piece-y fringe accentuates the bone structure while the razored layers enhance movement in the locks.

27. Dark Blonde Piece-y Lob. Let the world know you’re ready for summer and rock a blonde shoulder-length lob with highlights.

28. Long Feathered Shullet for Fine Hair. Here, layering derives max volume from the fine tresses, while the choppy fringe serves to add fullness in the front. And, of course, the built-in messiness of the texture allows for wash-and-go styling.

29. Long Honey Bronde Bedhead. Here is a disheveled version of the on-trend wolf that gives plenty of volume on the sides with a combo of curtain bangs and face-framing layers.

30. Two-Tier Edgy Layered Bob. A layered bob is among the classics of chic crops for women. Stick to your natural color for an aristocratic appearance or try platinum or pearl blonde to be the trendiest person in the room!

31. Neck-Length Crop with Wavy Layers. If you want to grow out your bob into something more rebellious to show off your natural texture more eagerly, this razored crop texturized with a salt spray is your next stop.

32. Wavy Wolf for Coarse Hair. If your locks are messy by nature, mastering the styling won’t take much time. This sexy coif will look absolutely stunning on you!

33. Medium Beachy Waves. If you can’t go to the beach, bring the beach to you with a wavy bedhead accented with golden highlights.

34. Lob with Peach and Lavender Layers. A strawberry blonde base with lilac tips takes this mid-length lob from wow to wow-za!

35. Below-the-Shoulders Choppy Brunette Mane. Razored layers look equally good on thick and thin hair, and this version has some bulk removed to lift the crown and give a nice definition to the middle part.

36. Disconnected Wavy Lob. Revamp your style and try a shorter messy coif with see-through bangs.

37. Collarbone Soft Layered Curls. The baby-soft curls and piece-y bangs frame the face in an angelic way.

38. Shoulder-Length Two-Tier Straight Coif. Even Marcia Brady would have to give you props for this classy layered style.

39. V-Shape Mane with Disconnected Layers. Your current long look transforms into an edgy Rapunzel when given piece-y layers.

40. Face-Framing Bedhead Bixie. The long messy pixie is oh so cute and keeps the curls you love. Bonus: it will also keep summer’s heat off your neck!

41. Midi Black Wolf with a Violet Tint. A deep violet gives this brunette wolf something extra.

42. Long Chestnut Brown Textured Waves. Both the loose waves and face-framing layers of this charmingly undone style soften the face and enhance the texture made with multiple layers and sliced ends.

43. Shoulder-Length Choppy Bedhead. Show off your thick mane with a disheveled coif, volumized on top. Wear straight or curly.

44. Midi with Wispy Layers Throughout. This style uses well-blended layers to structure the waves and build volume around the crown, which, together with the short bangs, does a great job of balancing out the long face.

45. Long Layered Mermaid Waves. Wavy locks with minimal bangs will have you looking like the mermaid you’ve always wanted to be!

46. Fun Edgy Patchy Lob with Bangs. Apart from channeling the girl’s personality, these stunning high-contrast splashes of blonde help to show off the play of textures, ranging from a feathered finish on the top to blunt tips on the bottom.

47. Long Layered Mane Makeover. For an easy-going style that showcases your long locks, choose shape-building layers. These adjust to any face shape and deliver a great look for any season.

48. Piece-y Shoulder-Length Coif with Bottleneck Bangs. A bottleneck fringe that starts right above the eyebrows and gets longer to hug the cheekbones is the new black nowadays, and, as we can see, it works fine for layered styles created on thick straight tresses.

49. Mid-Length Choppy Straight Hair. Textured layers for women can easily turn flat straight hair into a bushy mane by creating lift at the crown with short pieces, adding fullness to the front with deep bangs, and keeping the body around the ends with a blunt finish.

50. Sliced Straight Midi. Embrace your straight strands giving them some flattering slicing to avoid a limp look.

When considering your next look, remember there are so many ways you can play up your length and texture. From messy and curly to pin-straight with bangs, messy styles deliver versatile looks with great potential.

Good for you!! I too have a shag and have for at least 20 years but mine is more spiky at the top and bangs. Crazy short forehead. 80 is still young and I am a bit younger at 60. Since I am seeing more gray hairs and my hair is almost black, I’m going midnight blue for one maybe last hair color fling. Keep rocking it!!

I remember blow drying my shag and having the feathery layers lie flat on sides of my head. Was a good look.
